Three things, and they are usually the same problem seen from two ends.
Finding base oil for blenders who cannot get it through their usual channel. Spot requirements, volumes below a producer's minimum, and grades that have gone short after a force majeure or a missed allocation.
Finding buyers for lots that are difficult to move. Heavy grades with no home in the engine oil market, batches that came in outside a producer's own specification, and material that has to leave a tank before month end.
Establishing whether a base stock substitution is already covered under the ATIEL Code of Practice, whether it needs the additive supplier's agreement, and what the file has to contain either way. Most of the time the answer is knowable before anyone books a test.
Base oil reaches Southern and Eastern Europe through a handful of northern terminals. We work between those and the independent blenders further south.

Three rules we do not make exceptions to. They protect both sides of a transaction, and they are the reason a counterparty can deal with us on a first parcel.
We do not take title to material that has not been sold. Nothing we offer is inventory we are trying to clear.
Sampling and analysis by SGS, Intertek or Bureau Veritas on every parcel, at origin, before it moves.
We warrant that material matches its certificate of analysis. We do not warrant how it will behave in your formulation — that judgement stays with you and your additive supplier.
If you are short on a grade, or holding one you cannot place, tell us what it is and when you need it resolved. We will come back within two working days either way.
